Calliope Author Readings began in the 1960s as an innovative venture in the early days of literary recordings. With little more than a passion for books, optimism and sheer nerve, three young Boston entrepreneurs persuaded the most up-and-coming American authors to read from their works. The readings were first released as 7” inch LPs and sold in bookstores as “the companion to the paperback book.”

The authors became the classic voices of their generation, and the recordings are historical gems.
