In college for a degree he didn’t care about, the promise of the System creating a world where magic and challenge awaited—even at the risk of death—was the best news Alex possibly could have imagined.
Yeah, Alex was ready for a new life. He wasn’t, however, ready for his only friend to shove him through a portal into hell the moment the apocalypse started.
Instead of getting to hunt rabbits and farm wolves to start out, Alex finds himself stranded in a warped world where everything, including the bugs, is stronger than he is. Even with a Summoner Class that gains the powers of its monsters, most people would have died.

Okay, this book sounded dark, twisted and, a bit strange….checked all the boxes for me to try it out.
Narrator did a great job with the Victor of Tucson series so, the voices should be top notch in this book.
The writer is someone I have heard of and have listened to many of his books he has written and, do like his style…so that’s another plus for this book.
Let me know what you all think of it.

Actus’ writing can be a bit formulaic and once you read enough of his books you can see reused character tropes and dynamics, but it’s always a great fun and I’m a big fan despite of that.

Thanks for sharing! Love Actus! He’s already written so much for someone his age and a lot of it’s pretty decent. Plus, he continues to improve which can be rare for this genre and RR authors in general.

Mid, i liked the hook at the start,
That keeps me engaged, otherwise it’s pretty clear that the writer didn’t really thought things through.
the way the MC becomes an anomaly is sloppy, it’s a way a system could easily prevent, nothing special about it.
the system supposedly rewards challenge but then cheating smurfs are rewarded with no problem.
or MC fighting a big boss and claiming that it’s easy just because he had 3 fights in some other realm as if that’s enough to make him a veteran
