Bestselling author Norman Cantor delivers this compact but magisterial survey of the ancient world—from the birth of Sumerian civilization around 3500 B.C. in the Tigris-Euphrates valley (present-day Iraq) to the fall of the Roman Empire in A.D. 476. In Antiquity , Cantor covers such subjects as Classical Greece, Judaism, the founding of Christianity, and the triumph and decline of Rome. In this fascinating and comprehensive analysis, the author explores social and cultural history, as well as the political and economic aspects of his narrative. He explains leading themes in religion and philosophy and discusses the environment, population, and public health. With his signature authority and insight, Cantor highlights the great books and ideas of antiquity that continue to influence culture today.

…weird non sequitur. Point a fortiori stands. We’re all a creative combination of everything that went before, including Hindu numerals. However, Athens & Jerusalem were where advanced civilisation really took off.
Mindless hatred & racism towards the Jeeewz! is rationally inadmissible.

Jerusalem and science? Athens just gave us Direct democracy. Cradle of Science, architecture, agriculture laws and assemblies. all came from Mesopotamia,Egypt,China. Athens bulit and what before it but they were nowhere the most advanced period in history. the nunmbers you use are the arabic ones not the hindu, you want the hindu ones you can go and write with them. hatred & racism towards the hateful racist zio boys is a duty of anyone love justice.

More eurocentric propaganda from white men - who are the greatest people to ever live on earth… (according to them. Their story is the story of ALL OF US! LOL!
White men have absolutely no problem using the words “us, we and our” when talking about themselves as the representatives of all humanity - while the rest of us see this “great period of humanity” as the beginning of the end, when europeans learned what everyone else already knew, but decided to use that knowledge to enslave and commit genocide, and then talk about how smart they are. They’re still doing this today.

Point a fortiori stands. Humans remain a creative combination of all that went before, from all peoples, incl Hindu numerals. And Athens & Jerusalem were where advanced civilisation finally took off.The greatest values emerge from these. Lights to the world, indeed. While cultural cross-fertilisation is a constant, it’s also not about merely adopting, but adapting. By any measure the Greeks were utterly remarkable.
If only considering all of the incalculable dimensions of philosophical speculation; trial by jury; democracy; logic; metaphysics; epistemology; aesthetics; history; ethics; philosophy; theatre; biology, - the list goes ever on. Some have yet to reach the level of Athens even now. Rule of law, the rights-based legal order - in Jerusalem there originated a dignified reimagining of the human person which led to the concept & doctrine of human rights.
All owe Athens & Jerusalem an unquantifiable debt of gratitude. The common inheritance of humanity - everyone can now benefit from their achievements.
For all who value the life of the mind, these advanced accomplishments of civilisation are pivotal, & have long been known & appreciated.
And the numerals originated in India, yes. The achievements of the Indians in this domain was indeed seminal, consequently sincere credit is due them.

And hatred & racism towards Jewish people (you have actually said that you wanted a genocide of the Jews) - “is a duty of anyone love justice.”
So, we certainly have your, uh, coherent point there.

@caesar963 the most famous zionist of audiobookbay, your comments are always biased that’s why no one can take you seriously, please get lost

So, the rational condemnation of the call for another genocide of the Jewish people, you expediently define as “bias.”
Time for your golden shower, methinks.

first of all I don’t disagree that Civilizations build themselves upon each other but to impose that athens created all of those stuff not building upon them is what wrong! all these were created long before Greece even existed what the difference athena has given was its direct democracy that allowed for these already established sciences to develop faster in freer environment. the greeks were great in their own but they weren’t at all unique or more superior if so they wouldn’t have been this late to the civilization stage just appearing from the 700s onword. and the greeks themselves never ever denied wisdom of the middle east they always admired it but modern revision and romanticism of ancient greece made it something separated and disconnected from its eastern roots making them falsy the creators of everything.we still use mesopotamian astronomy and math, we still use egyption calendar and architecture, we still use phoenician alphabets. majority of the world embrace a palestinian aramaic arabic created religion in its origin was in Mesopotamia -judaism, christianity, islam. in politics Roman and mesopotamian laws are being used not greek. the code of Hammurabi and ur nammu the earliest laws in history. we use Arabic numbers and Arabic mathematics’ of algebra developed in baghdad house of wisdom which all world maths including calculus is based upon.that’s why I always Say from URUK to New York. without URUK enlightenment we would have been maybe still to this day in the stone age.
oh yeah so why aren’t you writing with their numbers? go copy them.
Long live the freedom fighters of the oppressed palestinians by the Zionist occupiers and their cult and their bloody sponsors….

None of that makes any coherent, substantial sense. It’s gobbledygook on acid, & misunderstands everything that’s been said. Refer back & read more carefully. Demonstrate actual understanding.
Origins are important - then they’re not. The Indians created the original numerals from which all flowed.
This is not the place to get your incoherent homework corrected.
It’s like you’re typing it from inside an operating tumble dryer.
Anyone who calls for a genocide has relinquished the right to have their opinions heard.
