A serious contender for the best of Walter Scott’s novels, and of the serious contenders (Rob Roy, Heart of Midlothian) almost certainly the most approachable.
I’ve not yet tried listening to a Scott novel (they always struck me as unusually bookish), but I was pleasantly surprised by Tom Jones in audio format.
