I wouldn’t assume that inequality is just caused by large government programs and interventions. Maldistributions of wealth, monopolies, fraud, etc. are market-produced results. Sometimes it’s better to do something (anything!) rather than accepting free market results.
As Isaiah Berlin said, “Freedom for the pike is death for the minnows.”
