No other monument in the world evokes mystery like the Great Sphinx of Giza. It has survived the harsh climate of Egypt for thousands of years and will remain long after our own civilization is gone. According to orthodox Egyptology, the Sphinx was built around 2500 BCE as a memorial to the pharaoh Khafre. Yet this “fact” has scant to no supportive evidence. When was the Sphinx really built and, most importantly, why?
In this provocative collaboration from two Egyptology outsiders, Robert M. Schoch, Ph.D., and Robert Bauval combine their decades of research to show how the Sphinx is thousands of years older than the conventional Egyptological timeline and was built by a long forgotten pre-Pharaonic civilization. They examine the known history of the Sphinx, contrasting what Egyptologists claim with prominent historical accounts and new research, including updates to Schoch’s geological water weathering research and reanalysis of seismic studies. Building on Bauval’s Orion Correlation Theory, they investigate the archaeoastronomical alignments of the monuments of the Giza Plateau and reveal how the pyramids and Sphinx were built to align with the constellations of Orion and Leo. Analyzing the evidence for a significantly older construction phase at Giza and the restoration and recarving of the Sphinx during the Old Kingdom era, they assert that the Sphinx was first built by an advanced pre-Pharaonic civilization that existed circa 12,000 years ago on the Giza Plateau, contemporaneous with the sophisticated Göbekli Tepe complex.
The authors examine how the monuments at Giza memorialize Zep Tepi, the Golden Age of legend shown here to be an actual historical time period from roughly 10,500 BCE through 9700 BCE.
Moving us closer to an understanding of the true age and purpose of the Great Sphinx, Schoch and Bauval provide evidence of an early high civilization witnessed by the Great Sphinx before the end of the last ice age.

The whole “theory” is to make this crank Bauvel’s nonsense about aligning with constellations work:

“Whilst this might be stretching credibility, it only truly snaps once Bauval comes up with an “epic fix” by claiming that, as some of his alignments don’t work when applied to the heavens at the time of construction, the layout of the pyramids was planned not around 2470 BCE, but in 10500 BCE, more than 8000 years earlier, or to put it another way, almost three times the length of the entire duration of the Pharaonic period, and four times the length of time between Julius Caesar and the present day.
However, the “epic fix” doesn’t work. In addition to this, to keep the all-important “master plan” workable, several pyramids had to be “removed” from Bauval’s calculations, as well as putting faith in the idea that the Pharaohs followed a multi-generational master plan for the necropolis (drawn up 8000 years earlier), despite that fact that very often no more than a passing effort was made to finish the burial of one’s predecessor relatively quickly and easily, as evidenced by the tombs of Seneferu, Menkaure and many others.”

How his Theory is wrong? it is completely thought provoking and logical. leaving Aside the visual evidence which is clear through Astronomy and geology.
Discovered Ancient text from Egypt in the pyards text and in the hermetics - book of thoth all of them explained how Egypt is mapped by the sky through its old Attractions. there is no Necessity to understand that the pyramids were built in 10500BC but there is a necessity to understand the ancient egyptians knew something about astronomy which was so important them to a degree they built or spotted the places where the pyramid plato is now for their astronomical reasons which Bovel explains but yet we don’t know what were they for. so pyramids weren’t only built to be what traditional Egyptology ,a field constructed by 19 century european invaders, to be only shallow tombs and nothing more nothing less. let all remember, how champollion was asked by the French Church to never expose any information about Egypt ’s age which could contradict the bible timeline.

@bjammin Let Remember what Zahi Hawass Said when he was asked about the Orion belt Theory although it must really not be a theory anymore since its clear fact to anyone ’s eye that the pyramids are aligned with the orient belt. he responded to that question I’M A scientist!I have no time for that haha
a scientist in what? Astronomy? or Geology?
Memorizing early Egyptologist works doesn’t make anyone a scientist. if so, mathamations now would have added far more laws to math none discovered or reformed but none of that usually happens now days. since those wanna be scientists memorizes and don’t understand what they are memarzing. they do not build on the previous knowledge but use it for their prestige issues. Robert didn’t have any knowledge about Egypt before his discovery, yet what he discovered is far more revolutionary than memorizing list of Egyptian kings with assumed dating they put in educational books as full fact. just now the word CIRCA became a thing to them. by those called Egyptologists.
