Interesting. I thought Trump won because the one smart thing he ever did was achieve power by catering to the worst aspects of America - the innate racism and complete inability to take responsibility for one’s own actions.

Well, this might spark some comments. Miller is brutally open about how he ‘played the game of politics’ to the point that triggering the libs seemed more important than fighting for any meaningful policy, even if he only realised it in retrospect.
Like many, he was briefly intoxicated by the Trump experience, only to become appalled by it. I can’t claim to be qualified to speak more from the long distance of Australia, but if nothing else this book is an insight into the ongoing fracturing of American politics in a way that has destroyed friendships.
