As China grows in power and boldness, the stage is set for a second Cold War. In the South China Sea, the situation heats up rapidly when the Chinese claim the internationally disputed and oil-rich Spratly Islands. Carrier Battle Group Fourteen, under the command of Rear Admiral “Tombstone” Magruder, is sent to maintain a presence in the area.
But America is not welcome in the South China Sea. The Chinese create an international incident by sabotaging their own outpost and blaming the U.S. Then Chinese missiles fire on American jets. For Magruder, the choice is simple: allow the sea to become a Chinese lake - or fight.
