Since 2012, the organization Girls Who Code has been leading the charge to get girls interested in technology and coding. Now its founder, Reshma Saujani, wants to inspire you to be a girl who codes!
Bursting with dynamic artwork, down-to-earth explanations of coding principles, and real-life stories of girls and women working at places like Pixar and NASA, this graphically animated book shows what a huge role computer science plays in our lives and how much fun it can be. No matter your interest—sports, the arts, baking, student government, social justice—coding can help you do what you love and make your dreams come true.
Whether you’re a girl who’s never coded before, a girl who codes, or a parent raising one, this entertaining book, printed in bold two-color and featuring art on every page, will have you itching to create your own apps, games, and robots to make the world a better place.

What is the reason for the push to get women to code? Do you know any coders who appear normal or happy in their work?

This is a feminist thing, they try to do what mens do (the majority of men do ). they mens are privileged.

Coding is an art ,it is also fun if you do it just for kicks, but when it comes to coding jobs , it is a challenge you will regret taking!

Anyone ever notice there always seems to be a sort of grandmotherly type, sits in the back of the class, language doesn’t matter: beginning with PASCAL, through ASSEMBLER, C/CPP, VBB, finally Python-there was always an elderly lady. When you looked over her shoulder, her code would be straight up beautiful - elegant, clear, orderly and, most important, it worked as required with damn few compiler flags. One such person (my C course I think)I talked to her, she helped me think about pointers more clearly, then found out she had worked with Grace Hopper in the 1950s, helped invent COBOL.
Having said that-yeah, the jobs mostly suck.
