It’s good to see an anthology that makes space for Alun Lewis and David Jones - both of whom catch aspects of warfare too often lost in the fog.
And Keith Douglas might be the only truly great poet of tank warfare (particularly given that tanks finally seem to be slipping into obsolescence).
Though I shall miss W W Gibson’s ‘Mark Anderson’, which again reflects something special about the War to End All Wars. It’s a sloppy poem in some ways, but then the Great War was a sloppy war.
